According to a recent national survey1,2 by the American Society for Microbiology and Research!America, public confidence in vaccines is waning — a trend blamed on “people either in insular communities or those who are able to connect with like-minded individuals online,” according to U.S. News & World Report.3 The percentage of American adults who believe it’s “very important” to vaccinate their children has declined by 11 percent over the past decade, from 82 percent in 2008 to 71 percent in May of this year.
