A concept patent has been filed for a method that includes the use of CRISPR/Cas-mediated gene editing to generate transgenic birds  so that no male offspring are able to hatch. Israeli scientists led by Dr Yuval Cinnamon (named as an inventor on the patent) are proposing this method to be used in chickens, so that only female chicks will hatch, which will then go on to become laying hens for egg production.  Read more.
