Codex Alimentarius Commission Advances Toxic Vet-Drug and Bee-Killer Pesticide Standards
One of Codex’s noble goals is to establish guidelines for healthy Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Foods (RUTF), which are used to feed severely malnourished children (usually under the age of five). RUTF are energy-dense, micronutrient-enriched pastes (similar in consistency to peanut butter) that are nutritionally similar to the traditional milk-based diet used in inpatient therapeutic feeding programs. Often, RUTF consist of peanuts, oil, sugar, and milk powder. Some of the ingredients are not what we would consider healthy (certain oils and sugar), but the RUTF do give immediate sustenance to children who might otherwise die. Read more.

Lab Grown Meat & Nuclear Yeast Vats: COP27 Reignites the War on Food
Today was “Adaptation and Agriculture” day at COP27, and you probably don’t need me to tell you what was on the agenda – a lot of talk of “sustainability”, “innovation”, “climate-friendly production” and so on. As usual with these global meetings, the closed-door discussions and po-faced newspeak presentations are accompanied by a wave of synchronized propaganda. One angle this propaganda is taking is that COP27 “refused to discuss” meat or farming in general, and therefore those people insisting we should kill all the cows in the world and eat lab-grown paste instead are somehow rebels speaking truth to power. With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility: Why “safe enough” is not good enough in Debates on GM Technologies
New genomic techniques (NGTs) are powerful technologies with the potential to change how we relate to our food, food producers, and natural environment. Their use may affect the practices and values our societies are built on. Like many countries, the EU is currently revisiting its GMO legislation to accommodate the emergence of NGTs. We argue that assessing such technologies according to whether they are ‘safe enough’ will not create the public trust necessary for societal acceptance. Read more.
Genetically Engineered Trees: the Growing Threat
The global release of genetically engineered trees is closer than it has ever been. Ironically, it could be the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) — the organisation that claims to “promote the responsible management of the world’s forests” through its certification programme — that opens the door to the commercialisation of GMO trees (also referred to b as GE trees, i.e. genetically engineered trees). Bill Gates: The Planet’s Unofficial Minister of Health
An in-depth Politico report shows how powerful non-governmental organizations wielded incredible influence in shaping the global response to the COVID pandemic—with almost no oversight. The report notes that four global non-governmental organizations, all with ties to Bill Gates—the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Wellcome Trust, Gavi, and the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI)—took on the role often played by national governments, except they aren’t accountable to democratic institutions.
