An investigation by academics, journalists and public interest researchers reveals a web of corporate money and industry-funded science surrounding the nonprofit organization International Life Sciences Institute (ILSI). ILSI describes itself as a network of think-tanks, science societies and institutes that promote food safety and nutrition. However, as research group U.S. Right to Know (USRTK) asserts, ILSI is a “food industry lobbying group” that works to benefit its corporate donors despite its proclaimed mission of improving “human health and well-being.” Read more.

EPA Ignores Evidence Chlorpyrifos Causes Permanent Damage to Children’s Brains

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced it is rejecting extensive scientific evidence that even low levels of the pesticide chlorpyrifos damages children’s brains. In its third risk assessment on chlorpyrifos published Monday, EPA is rejecting years of established science saying the science addressing the pesticide’s “neurodevelopmental effects remains unresolved,” as it tries to keep a widely used toxic pesticide in fruits and vegetables, as well as feed crops that lead to residues in milk, eggs, and meat. FDA’s Blood Testing Monopoly Dealt Blow

For some time, we’ve been telling you about the FDA’s attempt to impose pre-market approval requirements on laboratory developed tests (LDTs). The agency’s efforts were, thankfully, just dealt a major blow: the Health and Human Services Department (HHS) announced that the FDA will no longer be regulating LDTs.
