The Trump Justice Department announced that Purdue Pharma — the notorious maker of OxyContin — has agreed to plead guilty to criminal charges for its role in the opioid epidemic and pay $8.3 billion in penalties, punishments that critics panned as too late and far too little to match the scale of the corporation’s deadly and “evil scheme to push addictive drugs for profit.” Read more.

California Supreme Court Denies Review of Monsanto Roundup Trial Loss
Posted October 23, 2020
The California Supreme Court will not review a California man’s trial win over Monsanto, dealing another blow to Monsanto’s German owner, Bayer AG. The decision to deny a review in the case of Dewayne “Lee” Johnson marks the latest in a string of court losses for Bayer as it tries to complete settlements with close to 100,000 plaintiffs who each claim they or their loved ones developed non-Hodgkin lymphoma from exposure to Roundup and other Monsanto weed killers. Juries in each of three trials held to date have found not only that the company’s glyphosate-based herbicides cause cancer but also that Monsanto spent decades hiding the risks. Read more.
Carcinogenic Glyphosate Banned in Mexico, But Still ‘Safe’ in US
Posted October 23, 2020
When will the US EPA ban this poison? Action Alert! Mexico recently joined a host of other countries in phasing out the use of glyphosate, the active ingredient in the world’s most popular herbicide, Roundup. Posted October 23, 2020
Late last week, Illinois Circuit Court Judge Michael McHaney of Clay County ruled in a lawsuit that “all citizens of Illinois” are free from Governor J.B. Pritzker‘s tyrannical orders. This comes after arguably unethical tactics by the Illinois Attorney General to delay the case by trying to remove it to federal court, and the United States Department of Justice filing a Statement of Interest in the case in support of the lawsuit.
