On June 22, 2017, the U.S. suspended imports of fresh beef from Brazil,2 the fifth largest beef exporter to the U.S. For the past two years, Brazil’s Federal Police have conducted an investigation into the country’s beef industry. According to investigators, Brazilian food inspectors accepted bribes, falsified sanitary permits and allowed expired meats to be sold. Read more.
