ANH-USA Joins Healthcare Repeal Lawsuit

ANH–USA strongly opposes the recently enacted healthcare bill for a variety of reasons. It seriously impinges on the freedom of consumers to choose the type of healthcare they want, and the freedom of practitioners to practice without harassment. ANH–USA opposes the Food Safety Bill as a threat to natural health and health freedom. We succeeded in preventing language that would have committed the US to harmonization of food standards with the rest of the world under CODEX. Supreme Court Gives Ruling on Genetically Modified Alfalfa, Congress Responds

In the case of Monsanto v. Geertson Seed Farms—the first-ever Supreme Court case to be held on genetically modified (GM) crops—the Supreme Court has ruled 7 to 1 in favor of lifting an injunction (established previously by a lower court) on planting GM alfalfa. Furthermore, planting and selling of said alfalfa is still prohibited until an environmental review is conducted and considered. Read full article.
McDonald’s Threatened with Lawsuit over Toys in Happy Meals

The Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI) is planning to sue fast-food giant McDonald’s if the company does not remove toys from “Happy Meals”. CSPI claims that marketing unhealthy food with toys is contributing to the childhood obesity epidemic and should be stopped immediately. Read full article.

Supreme Court Kicks Critical Genetically Modified Alfalfa Issue Down the Road

In a 7-1 decision on June 21, the U.S. Supreme Court did not accept a lower court’s total nationwide ban on GM alfalfa. But it did agree that the seeds could be dangerous and did not allow Monsanto to proceed with selling them. The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) must now complete a study examining whether the seeds will harm the environment before approving them for restricted planting. Read full article.
FDA Reverses Position on BPA in Plastics and Now Admits Concern Over the Chemical
